Classes for Multi-Age Levels
Capoeira, 11:00 - 11:50am ($180) This unique course is designed for families to learn and enjoy Capoeira together. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music. This artform rooted in resistance was once banned. Today we invite all to learn about the history of this powerful dance traditionally done in groups.
Choir with BGA School of Music, 1:15 - 2:05pm ($180) Discover the joy of singing in a fun and supportive environment! This class is designed for children who love to sing and want to learn more about music. Through engaging activities, vocal exercises, and group performances, students will develop their singing skills, learn about musical concepts, and experience the magic of making music together. There will be a focus on music of diverse artists. (Ages 8 & up)
Keys to Harmony with BGA School of Music), 2:10 - 3:00pm ($240) In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of playing the piano, from understanding basic notes to developing hand-eye coordination. Our experienced instructor will guide participants through interactive lessons, making each class both educational and enjoyable. Let's unlock the world of melodies together in the Keys to Harmony! This class will require a piano book and outside practice to be successful. (Ages 8 & up)
Classes for Grades K-2
Jr. Vet Science, 11:00 - 11:50am ($180) A fun and engaging class designed for young animal enthusiasts! Through interactive activities, hands-on projects, and personal stories from the field, students will learn about animal care, basic anatomy, and the important role veterinarians play in keeping our furry friends healthy
Dance with Adelle, 11:55 - 12:45pm ($180) This class will get bodies moving! Come dance with Adelle, a professional dancer with the Latin Ballet of Virginia, as you are introduced to dances from Africa, Latin America, and American Hip-Hop.
Afrikan Stories & Stretch, 1:15 – 2:05pm ($180) Afrikan Folklore, Centering, Breathwork and Yoga: Good for the body and soul. Students will hear Afrikan folklore from throughout the Diaspora and then follow a yoga practice incorporating ideas from the story in poses and breathwork.

Classes for Grades 3-5
Hip Hop Dance, 11:00 - 11:50am ($180) Our hip-hop dance class is designed for children aged 6-8 years old. The class focuses on funk and hip-hop techniques and a lot of choreography to help the students enhance their expressive ability. We play only clean music selections that are always family-friendly.
Vet Science, 11:55 - 12:45pm ($180) Is your child interested in being a veterinarian? Join Rise and Shine K-9 as they offer this hands-on class. Students will learn taxonomy, anatomy, behavior and animal health and how to treat illnesses.

Classes for Grades 6-12
Intro to DJ, 11:00 - 11:50am ($180) This class is for students who are interested in learning about the art of DJing. We will cover the basics of DJing, including beat-making, phrasing, and EQing. We will also learn about different genres of music and how to mix them together. In this class, students will:
Learn the basics of DJing equipment, such as turntables, mixers, and computers.
Learn how to beat-match and phrase two songs together.
Learn how to EQ different sounds to create a balanced mix.
Learn about different genres of music and how to mix them together.
Practice their DJing skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Creative Writing, 11:55 - 12:45pm ($180) Unlock your imagination and discover the power of words in our “Creative Writing” class designed specifically for mature middle and high school students. This course offers a supportive and inspiring environment where young writers can explore various forms of creative expression. Whether you’re an aspiring author or simply love to write, this class taught by author and Richmond’s first Poet Laureate, Roscoe Burnems, will help you develop your unique voice and storytelling skills.

Acting for the Stage, 1:15 - 2:05pm ($180) Step into the spotlight and discover the art of theatrical performance in our “Acting for the Stage” class. This course is designed for aspiring actors of all levels who are eager to explore the fundamentals of stage acting. Through a combination of practical exercises, improv, scene work, and performance techniques, students will develop the skills necessary to bring characters to life on stage.
Intro to Photography, 2:10 - 3:00pm ($180) Discover the art and science of photography in this engaging introductory course. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, this class will provide you with the foundational knowledge and hands-on experience needed to take stunning photographs. This is a technical class and will require outside practice.
Unearthing History: Archaeology I - Grades 9 & 10, 1- 2:30pm ($540)
Unearthing History: Archaeology II - Grades 11 & 12, 2- 3:30pm - ($540) We will be uncovering the hidden history of the Black Tuberculosis Hospital at Pine Camp. Students will be conducting an archeological survey of the site in conjunction with VCU Archaeology Field Experience class. This project will include both lecture, research and field time. Students should expect additional work outside of the classroom. This is a year-long course. Class begins August 20th.
